Montessori Super Bowl Ad
I would have been lulled into a peaceful, comfortable, familiar sleep by these objections if I hadn't been just a bit curious. Just what does it cost for a Super Bowl advertisement? Googling it, I found that one thirty second ad costs almost $3 million! Wow. There's no way our growing and enthusiastic--but still so tiny--Montessori community could afford such extravagance. After all, we're only 1.5% of the K-12 schools out there. But being a bit bored one afternoon, and having taken advanced math and calculus twenty years ago, I pulled out a calculator. Let's see, $3 million and approximately 500,000 Montessori students in the U.S. Hmm...which one are you supposed to divide by the other one? Got it. 3,000,000 divided by 500,000 = 6. Six? Six dollars?! SIX DOLLARS PER MONTESSORI STUDENT?!!!!! If we can get every Montessori school in the U.S. on board--AMI, AMS, independent, unaffiliated, discombobulated, everyone--WE CAN AFFORD TO HAVE A MONTESSORI AD IN SUPER BOWL 2011. Such an ad will reach over 100 million people. Better yet, it will reach over half the adults in your community. And not just reach them; their eyes will be glued to the set for thirty seconds. If they are interested, they'll look up the nearest Montessori school and come see your school for a visit. This will help your school. Is this worth six dollars per student? Let's say you're the director of a brand new Montessori school with ten students. Can you afford $60 to be in the Super Bowl and reach more than half the parents in your community? Let's say you're the director of a large Montessori school with 300 students and tens of thousands of dollars available for scholarships, financial aid, and marketing. Can you afford $1,800 to be in the Super Bowl and reach more than half the parents in your city? Absolutely. Is there any reason Montessori should not be marketed to more people than Doritos is? Budweiser? Here's what I need: Your input. Your advertisement ideas. Your word-of-mouth. Your school's financial pledge of $6 per student. Contact me for kick off.
